Wood Type

20/03/11 I really love wood. It smells good and is extremely beautiful. I took some pictures and collected a few bits and pieces during a walk in the woods on a grey day. Later, on another grey day, I started playing with this font and made it into this poster design.

Seen/Loved | Woodkid: Iron

My friend Fabrice has put me on to this*, and I think I’m in love.

Music videos don’t always come this gorgeous. And I like the song too!

*It’s not really nicking if you give credit, where credit is due, right?

Losing The Detail

30/01/11 After drawing the visual for him, the tattooist vetoed my friend’s new ink plans. There’s no thin enough needles out there, apparently. Back to the drawing board, mission: simplify.

NB: Image shows detail only.

Hitchcock’s Ghost

28/01/11 Last September, in my old flat, the shadow of an elephant appeared at the door. From that day on, strange shadows kept appearing – a man with very pointy features, a monkey face with glasses and many that were too ugly to photograph.

Then one day, Hitchcock’s shadow appeared, crisp and clear.

Shortly after, I moved house. I wonder who else would’ve dropped by, had I stayed.

02/01/11 Fell in love with these dentist signs in Marrakesh. If you go to Morocco, take your camera and have a look out for more, will you? (Found those tidying my Mac).

01/10/10 Took these shots earlier this year in Adelboden, Switzerland and am still totally in love with them.

Went hiking with a friend in Adelboden, got hopelessly lost and after 5 hours of walking up and down, and despite running the last stretch uphill, missed the bus to back to town. Public transport up there isn’t exactly frequent and my friend wanted to hit the cheese shop before it closed, so we hitchhiked our way back. The only person stopping was a wiry gentleman in his seventies with a deep tan and massive gaps in his teeth, on his way back from an uphill marathon. His name was Robert Schmid. I shamefully have to admit he was only about half as exhausted as either one of us. We did make it to the cheese shop though, just in the nick of time.

Idle Play

30/06/10 Decided I needed new business cards and played around a bit with gradients, shapes and typography. I like the result.
